Our Impact
Our goal is simple: to save as many cats & dogs as we can from euthanasia.
We realize that we can't save them all, but this doesn't stop us from working hard to give healthy, adoptable homeless cats & dogs a chance to live and be loved.
MHC tracks the status of every pet that comes into our care using a nationally recognized standard.
We'll let these numbers tell the story of how MHC, together with other rescue groups in Midland, are significantly reducing the number of pets euthanized in our community.
Our Work
MHC is more than just a shelter or adoption center. We’re dedicated not only to saving, but also improving the lives of cats and dogs. We’re busy working pet issues at all angles and providing accessible and affordable services to the community.
- Adoptions. We’re continuously working to ensure our rescued cats and dogs get adopted.
- Vaccinations. We host affordable public vaccination clinics that help protect thousands of pets from disease.
- Microchipping. We offer microchipping services that can help ensure the safe return of lost pets.
- Spaying/Neutering. We advocate for and offer low-cost spaying and neutering options for pets. We also advocate for TNR to help control and protect the stray cat populations.
- Laws. We’ve partnered with the City of Midland to create an ordinance that require pets which are repeatedly impounded to be altered.
- Education. We’re working on educating the public on pet care. Animal Welfare Education promotes knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and values related to human involvement in the lives of animals.
Once our Wellness and Treatment Center is up and running, we hope to boost our impact and do more in the name of preserving and improving the lives of pets.
