At Midland Humane Coalition, every walk, cuddle, and kind word makes a difference. Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission—bringing comfort, joy, and second chances to pets in need. Volunteers help us give all our rescue pets the time and attention they need as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

Here are some ways you can volunteer at The Mabee Animal Rescue Center.
Animal Care
- Pet Playdate. Spend some time hanging out with some furry friends at The Mabee ARC. You can make them feel extra-special during your visit by playing games and socializing with them. This interaction is important to help rescue dogs gain trust and feel comfortable around people
- Dog Walking Buddy. Take dogs out for a walk to give them much-needed exercise and enrichment.
- Cat Cuddler. Cats love to play and they can get pretty bored cooped up in their kennels. Grab some toys, take them out and give (and receive) tons of cuddles.
- Pet Caretaker. Assist our kennel techs in catering to the needs of our rescues during their stay. Feed animals and provide fresh water on assigned shifts. Assist with grooming (brushing, baths, nail trims if trained).
Facility Support
- Kennel Concierge. Assist our kennel techs in keeping the The Mabee ARC clean and comfortable for our 4-legged guests - help wash dishes, litter pans, and toys. Clean litter boxes and ensure pets always have fresh bedding.
- Facility Maintenance. Are you handy with tools and equipment? Help us keep The Mabee ARC building and grounds safe for our rescues. Help with yard work and building maintenance.
Photographer/Videographer
- PawParazzi. Put your amazing photography talents to use. Take pictures of pets at the The Mabee ARC and help them get adopted. Or join us at one of our events and help us tell our story through your pictures.
SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEER
Participate in community events and help represent MHC. Lend a paw at our Adoption Events and help cats & dogs find forever homes!
- Help set up and break down adoption events.
- Handle and showcase animals at events.
- Greet visitors and answer basic adoption questions.
- Share information about our mission and adoption process.
- Educate the public about responsible pet ownership.
