Cici's Rescue Story

NOTES FROM RESCUE LIFE is a blog series where we will be sharing some of our rescue stories and our day-to-day challenges & successes at the Midland Humane Coalition Adoption Center(inside PetSmart) and The Joe and Van Mabee Animal Rescue Center (our new rescue facility).

RESCUE WORK never stops. We tried to slow down for just one day for HOT DOG RUN, our annual fundraiser which helps us raise crucial funds for our rescue work. (The event was a success: we had tremendous support from sponsors and a great turnout-thank you all!)  But we couldn't simply kick back and celebrate at the end of the day. Because rescue work never stops. And this day was no different.

A young dog was desperately in need of emergency assistance. Some kind people found her in terrible shape, fur severely matted and badly injured.  We got their call as they were driving her to the hospital and we immediately stepped up to help.

The dog was taken straight to Legacy Animal Emergency Hospital. Underneath the matted fur, turns out she had wounds all over that look like she might have been attacked by something(photos showing severe injuries were blurred).  She spent the night at the hospital to get the best treatment possible.

She was discharged today and she is now safely in a foster home where she can get the dedicated, 'round the clock care that she needs as she recovers.  Her foster named her Cici.

Cici is now in good hands. She is doing so much better and no longer in excruciating pain like the day she was rescued. All she needs now is time and care which her foster will provide. Once she has fully recovered, we will move her into the Mabee Animal Rescue Center and put her through the usual vetting process - spayed, chipped and vaccinated. Soon, she will be ready to go into the Adoption Center to find her forever home.

At only 8 months old, Cici now has her whole life ahead of her to look forward to!

Stay tuned for Cici's progress! In the mean time, please help us recover some of Cici's expenses.

With rescue work, we never know what situations we will have to deal with each day. Having a steady flow of funds enables us to be ready for whatever challenges we may encounter as we help cats & dogs out of desperate situations.  Help us continue to help more pets like Cici! Thank you!
