Teresa enjoys working with animals - she does it as a professional dog  trainer and as an MHC volunteer! She's been a huge help in helping  us train and socialize some of the Adoptables to get them ready for their new homes.

Thanks for sharing your skills, Teresa!

MHC Volunteer since:
a couple of years

Volunteer position/s?
Evaluating and working with dogs at MHC. (Teresa is a professional dog trainer)

Fun Facts:
Job: Doing what I love!! Training dogs.
Hobby: Travel, I love to explore new places.

Family: I have a daughter who is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst living in Austin. My son is living in Colorado Springs.
Favorite food: At the moment? Indian.
Live: In Odessa, TX. I lived in Midland from 1979 to 2015 then moved in with my significant other in Odessa.

Got pets?
I have 2 Border Collies, River and Merida.

Why do you volunteer with MHC? What motivates you to stay involved?
The more dogs we can adopt, the more dogs we can save.

In your opinion, what is the most important work that this organization does?
Saving as many as possible, finding them the perfect home and giving them the best life ever.

Has volunteering with MHC had a positive impact on your life?  Tell us about a time/incident  that was especially meaningful for you while volunteering with MHC.
Hope (a dog)  - I was called in to help with a Border Collie cross who was going kennel crazy. She was frightened of people, noises, movement. I came to work with her and after 3 days, she was a puddle of love! She is now with Border Collie Rescue & Rehab waiting for her forever home. There are some amazing photos of her on their FB page.

If you could encourage someone else to volunteer with MHC, what would you tell them?
Time is an incredible gift. Spending time helping dogs be better socialized, walk on leash, enjoy seeing new people come to MHC. Changing the life of one dog can make your world a better place.

What is your favorite thing about volunteering with MHC?
Watching the dogs change from frightened to brave! I'm excited to meet and help new dogs find their forever homes.
